Miss Reds {E} Graffiti Artist Feature

by Christina Diaz

Self taught graffiti artist Miss Reds was born and bred in Miami. Twenty-six years young she’s been drawing since she was 3 years old. It wasn’t till around the age of 10 that she started noticing graffiti and began mimicking the letters she saw on paper. Soon after she was gifted the “Subway” Art book when she was in the 6th grade. It was at that time that she took a big interest the work of graff artist Poem. Some of the other writers she looks up to include Vans the Omega, Claw, Dare (RIP), and Sever. “All of them are quite different in style, but their work seems to appeal to me for different reasons.

She describes her artwork as “Colorful – Miami – A Tropical flavor.” Her writing is vibrant, energetic and passionate much like Miss Reds herself. She says, “My letters always look like there’s a party going on inside of ’em.”

Miss Red’s coming up fast and admits that even though she’s developing her own recognizable style she must constantly challenge herself. “Everything is trial and error for me and a whole lot of dedication. I’ve taught myself letter structures and sit down every day to sketch. Hopefully five years from now my work will evolve and I’ll be using techniques I never thought I’d be able to achieve.”
