Book Review: Amigos de los Muertos

Review by Christina Diaz

Authors/Artists: Jeral Tidwell, Angryblue, Roberto Jaras Lira, David Lozeau

This one-hundred page book is a contemporary collection of Day of the Dead art drawing tradition of Posada, with new takes on classic images. It is a useful resource for any tattoo artist looking for Day of the Dead art references. The four artists in the book celebrate with sugar skulls, dancing skeletons, dead musicians, the grim reaper, Evel Knievel skeletons, and much more – all rendered in the crisp clear line work of Jeral Tidwell, Angryblue, Roberto Jaras Lira, and David Lozeau. The six-by-six hardcover book is beautifully bound in a faux leather embossed cover with gold foil stamping and gilded edges.
